EHS Specialist

Job Description :

We are looking for an EHS Coordinator who will Manage Environmental, Health and Safety programs to assure compliance of all federal, state and Corporate regulations. Plant EHS Coordinator is responsible for the development, leading and sustaining of plant safety, environmental initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees and protection of environment and sustainable site’s operation.



  • Monitors facility and processes for adherence to OSHA guidelines and compliance.

  • Investigate all near misses, first aids and accidents that occur on-site and complete root cause analysis for each. Ensure appropriate actions have been taken to prevent recurrence.

  • Ensure monthly safety inspections are completed and all non-compliance items are addressed.

  • Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, incident reports and related events.

  • Drive employee engagement to create and foster a proactive, empowered safety culture by conducting daily safety observations on the shop floor and addressing any unsafe behaviors or unsafe conditions

  • Act as a liaison, as needed, between management and external safety agencies, such as OSHA, insurance company or other state agencies

  • Track and manage all Workers Compensation claim filing, tracking, and incident investigation in collaboration with the Occupational Nurse.

  • Update, revise, and maintain current safety program and procedures, as needed.

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety Field at a professional level.

  • OSHA 30 Hour- General Industry, at a minimum

  • Environmental Experience (Stormwater, Hazardous Waste, Permits Reporting, etc.)

  • Directs implementation of company safety program, to include developing safety methods, procedures and policies based on company guidelines.

  • Identifies and evaluates environmental and safety hazards, recommends corrective action as necessary.

  • Performs job analysis and measures and evaluates effectiveness of safety policies, makes needed modifications.

  • Leads the organization of the emergency response team (ERT) safety committee.

  • Subject matter expert for safety and/or environmental training: use of crane, Crane, scaffolding, “guindolas”, fall protection, respirators, forklift, Safety, confined spaces, logout/tagout, among others.

  • Provides root cause analysis and accident investigation for worker’s compensation.

  • Initiates action to prevent accidents both machinery and behavior.

  • Onboard all new employees and facilitate safety awareness training for all new employees.

  • Maintain contractor safety requirements and trainings.


Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in in EHS, engineering, science in environmental or related field. Minimum of 5-10 years’ creating and leading EHS programs in manufacturing operations with In-depth knowledge and understanding of state and federal OSHA rules and regulations and emphasis in:

    • Safety training, inspection/audit, job safety analysis, ergonomics program development.

    • Accident investigation, promotion of safety prevention/awareness.

    • Worker’s compensation record keeping and statistical report generation.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • Exhibit good judgement, common sense, leadership, decision making skills, and possess effective interpersonal skills.

  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and varied tasks.
