Job Description :

Responsible for the provision of medical dental health services and safety to children according to the standards of Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) Program performance. Collaborate in the planning of services health and implements the same. Conducts research on the health needs of the child and their family with the Purpose of monitoring existing conditions and preventing future conditions. Maintain a system that tracks health and safety services for each child. Collect data that evidence the achievements of the services offered to children and families based on real evidence of families, environment and community.


1. Plan and carry out the investigation of the health and safety needs of the child, mothers and family through medical and dental histories, screening tests and others.

2. Implement and maintain a system to track health and safety services offered to pregnant women, children, and as required by HS and EHS performance standards.

3. Make plans that ensure that the child receives the necessary health and safety services according to their individual needs, the minimum requirements established by the Program and the Schedule of Periodicity.

4. Collect data that shows the achievements and results of the services offered to each child and family according to the service plan.

5. Educate parents with the Health Program (medical plan) both public and private, so that they are covered by a continuous source of health care. Guide and train them to follow up on the health and safety services that their children require.

6. Visit homes to offer services, follow up on children and families that require it.

7. Visit community health agencies for educational materials and resources.

8. Keep organized and updated the health and safety file of each child, including those with suspected special needs.

Enter health data into the computerized system in the organization and keep it updated.

9. Monthly health and safety monitoring of first aid kits, supply of gloves, shoe covers, stretcher paper, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Keep inventory updated.


10. Coordinate with internal or external resources for the administration of screening tests, evaluations or treatments to children.


11. Participate in team meetings, case discussions, interdisciplinary meetings and meetings for the design and review of the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).


12. Prepare weekly, monthly and statistical reports of the work carried out, as well as other reports or documents required by the program and deliver on the established dates.


13. Offer first aid services and/or medical emergencies in cases of accidents and guide the interdisciplinary team in strategies to handle emergency medical-dental and natural situations.


14. Prepare and deliver educational conferences for children, family, and staff on health topics


and security.


15. Promote health patterns and habits that promote the comprehensive health of children, parents and staff

Required Qualifications :

  • Associate Degree in Nursing Sciences from a recognized Health Sciences University or College.

  • One or more years of experience in child growth and development. 

  • Professional license in the field of health recognized by the Board of Professionals of the ELA. 

  • Current health certificate. 

  • Vaccination against Hepatitis B, Td, MMR. and Influenza 

  • Certification in CPR and first aid 

  • Computer medical documentation skills and medical record. Word, Excel, Outlook
