Network Administrator

The network administrator is responsible for maintaining the networks and systems that keep our organization running. From maintaining security to supervising network updates and training users, the administrator is not only IT support but also the thread that connects all operations. Deep technological expertise with a wide range of computer systems, hardware, and software is essential for the network administrator to excel in this role and help drive our organization forward.

Responsibilities

• Maintain network servers and associated hardware, software, services, and settings


• Recommend, test, and implement system and security upgrades


• Consistently monitor and troubleshoot network stability and performance


• Create, adjust, and maintain network user settings and permissions


• Write technical support documentation for network systems and applications


• Design and install well-functioning computer networks, connections and cabling for customers


• Inspect customer LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs


• Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices


• Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance to internal and customer networks without deterring others from completing their own work


• Do regular data backups to protect the organization’s information


• Provide technical direction to co-workers on computer and network usage and offer comprehensive advice and instructions

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related field


• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Office 365


• Experience with Cisco switches and routers


• Professional certification, such as CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP


• Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies


• Hands-on experience with common software and hardware


• Experience with virtualization, including deployment and administration
