Job Description :
Responsible for contributing to the care and development of children. Provide activities conducive to the areas of holistic child development (language, physical, socio-emotional and cognitive) and safe and healthy environments. Implement the procedures established in each service area. Integrate the family in the coordination of services and planning of activities that strengthen the integral development of the child. Identify the needs of the family with the team and work effectively on them interdisciplinarity.

 


ESSENTIAL TASKS:
1. Use knowledge of the principles of child growth and development to work with children and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, clean, organized, disinfected before and after educational activities, the children's check-in area, in personal hygiene and grooming routines, and in children's feeding.
3. Participate in the check-up of the children both in the morning and in the afternoon, in the development of hygiene habits, and participate in the feeding process according to the age of the children.
4. Participate in the process of research and analysis of the strengths, interests and needs of each child in order to keep the child's profile updated.
5. Maintain a fidelity, child-centered curriculum implementation and learning environment that fosters positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
6. Use children's observations and anecdotal notes to document children's progress and individualize daily planning.
7. Participate in the planning and development of activities that promote the development and active learning of children inside, outside the environment and on field trips.
8. Plan learning experiences that promote the development of the whole child, including improving children's school readiness
9. Preparing educational materials and planning daily activities
10. Participate in the observation process, ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE-2 screenings, referrals and continuous assessment of the learning of the assigned children.
11. Participate in the data entry in the GOLD ON LINE system, obtain reports of the results of the evaluation of the children's learning and progress and discuss them with the parents three times a year.
12. Ensure that each child is supervised in and out of the environment, set health and safety boundaries, and use the 10 strategies of active supervision at all times.
13. Encourage the participation of children's families in the Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families.
14. Collaborate in the study of parents' needs and in their training (guidance, training and socio-educational activities of the program).
15. Address challenging behaviors by observing for possible causes of the behavior, applying preventative measures, teaching the child new social and communication skills, and partnering with families to support the child at home.
16. Maintain effective and respectful communication channels with the families of the children served.
17. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, case discussions, PEI reviews, home visits for educational follow-up in an interdisciplinary manner.
18. Include parents in the process of observation, planning and educational monitoring at home and in the center.
19. Keep the child's file organized and updated with all the information and authorizations required for the education services of each child, including those with special needs.
20. Prepare attendance record and monthly statistical and narrative reports of the work carried out, as well as other required reports.
21. Offer first aid in case of accidents and manage the emergency situation following the established procedure.
22. Implement with parents and staff the procedures established in the educational area and other service areas.
23. Participate in each child's transition process.
24. Be available to move between centers and geographical areas and accept schedule changes according to the existing need, as required by the supervisor.


Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

  • CDA Preschool Credential

  • Teacher License granted by the Department of Education

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) Intermediate Level

  • Category 3 Driver's License

  • Certification in CPR and first aid
