Tooling Supervisor
Responsible for operations by working with team leaders on manufacturing production schedules and supervising insert and machine shop technicians, making sure quality, manufacturing and metrology processes are met according to CVI’s procedures and performance expectations. This role leads a shift in the delivery of manufacturing performance targets. Supervisor will play a crucial role in area KPI achievement, people management (including development), and implementing solutions that optimize manufacturing processes. Challenge and work with current and new develop processes, focused on supporting business outcomes and process improvements.
1. Leads tooling & machine shop operations including planning, productions support, material procurement, purchasing, projects, quality and compliance, systems, business continuity, and environment, health, and safety of the work environment / area.
2. Define priorities of tooling / machine shop activities including but not limited to, design, build, repair, maintenance, and spare parts management for inserts and general components.
3. Facilitates, coordinates, and oversees the execution and development of a team of technicians including payroll, recruiting, training, and performance management, among others.
4. Manage and measure critical area stakeholder management, systems, processes, resources and overall KPIs and OEEs. Support the new product introduction and global strategies.
5. Monitor area goals and objectives and enforce its attainment.
6. Supports planning activities for the tool center / machine shop.
7. Troubleshoots and solves tooling area situations during the assigned shift. Ensures ongoing process improvement identification for the area.
8. Supports end-to-end Quality & Compliance matters including audit readiness, investigations, implementation of corrective and preventive action. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
9. Creates and updates SOPs and all required documentation for process and equipment, maintenance, and repair.
10. Generally, works in a machine shop environment, with variable level of noise and sometimes requiring ear protections, and controllable changes of temperature.
11. Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for analyzing tooling solutions required.
- Computer literate (MS Office and tooling related software & applications).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling technologies required.
- Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory compliance in tooling manufacturing required.
- Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish languages.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective leadership by driving others to engage and achieve goals in a collaborative working environment.
